(Editors note: I hope you are loving the short, thought-provoking articles by our WSC Ambassador, Ms. Sonia Morley. I certainly am! God’s children of all ages can benefit greatly by the “simple” wisdom she so uniquely shares.
This month, Sonia submitted two articles for the newsletter and told me to, “Pick one…” Just isn’t possible to do since I love everything she writes. So, two “challenges” this month – one from Sonia and one a “gift” from me! LOL)
Article #1 – Christmas Challenges
Guarding our hearts begins with guarding our eyes and ears. Eyes and ears are the gateway for temptation. Our tongues, hands, and feet only put in motion what our minds conceive. Most often, our minds depend on visual and auditory input for their ideas. So, I ask you, “How are you doing in this area?”
With all the electronic visual and audio devices we have available now, i-pads, tablets, phones, internet (all signs of the times) it is very difficult to guard what we see and hear as these are all open doors for temptation.
I wish it wasn’t so; that this could be changed and all the time we have would be spent hearing and seeing only the things from above. We would harbor only love and joy in our hearts and not temptation.
My own Christmas challenge and one to you, my friends of every age: let’s try not using any of those devices when we are with family and friends. Let’s be an example to those who look up to us and love us. Let’s listen more to the voices of people around us and really see the beautiful scenes of nature and Christmas God created. We’ll be guarding our hearts and those of the ones we love. I’ll bet Christmas will be even MERRIER!
Merry Christmas!
Sonia
Article #2 – The Gift of The Word
I have in my car a binder ring of Bible verses on cards to be memorized. Every time the grandkids see it, they ask for one for themselves. I’ve kept promising to make one for them but it seems something always gets in the way. So, this Christmas, I decided to get the job done. I am mailing each of them a card every day until Christmas. Each card (To put on a ring!) has 7 easy-to- memorize verses, one for each day of the week.
Christmas is all about Christ! It’s not really about gifts fromToys R us or Best Buy. It’s about long-lasting gifts – gifts that will stay in their hearts no matter where or how old they are.
I would love to do it every year, but who knows if it will be possible. For now, I am happy to be able to do it for Christmas 2017! What long-lasting gift will you give your loved ones this year?
Christmas Blessings!
Sonia.
