Is wisdom related to age? If so, what is the age at which one starts to be wise? We can ask this question of several people and the answers will all be different.
I used to think that wisdom comes when you are old and experienced. In certain ways, that is true, but I now believe that wisdom is available to those of almost any age.
Proverbs 4:7 says: “The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding.”.
Does it say to get wisdom when you are old? No. This is what everyone should do.
James 1:5 “But if anyone is deficient in wisdom, he should ask God, who gives to all generously and without reprimand, and it will be given to him.”
Does it say to ask God for wisdom when you are old? No. Because He promised us in 1 Corinthians 2:10
“For to us God revealed them (the things God hath prepared) through the Spirit: for the Spirit searches all things, even the depths of God. “
Does it say God only revealed these things to “old” people? No. Matthew 7:7-8 says that EVERYONE who asks RECEIVES!
My point is this: children today are not getting wisdom because they do not know it is available to them. They do not need to understand wisdom to get it. They have only to ask for it.
