I recently spoke at a ladies’ luncheon on the subject, “Well-Dressed Feet; Paths of Praise and Prayer.” As you might imagine, it stimulated a lot of thought. At the close, I arranged for everyone’s feet to be anointed with oil; one foot with “Praise”, the other with “Prayer” in order to maintain a “well-balanced” spiritual life. It was a quite memorable moment for all.

However, for this special season of the year, the Holy Spirit has given me a different take on the subject although the scriptures are the same.

Ephesians 6:15:

“…having your feet shod well-dressed – with the….Gospel of Peace.”

“Peace on Earth!” The Christmas greeting seems to show up everywhere…in sermons and songs, on cards, bumper stickers, plaques and gifts. How contradictory the message seems to be considering the wars, conflicts and chaos in today’s crazy, mixed-up world. Yet, how necessary! How life-saving!

So, please be sure your feet are well-dressed this Christmas. Spread the good news, “Peace on Earth!” everywhere you go.

And, from Isaiah 52:7 and Romans 10:17:

“How beautiful – well-dressed – …are the feet of the

messenger who brings good news… announcing…Your God Reigns!

Jesus’ birth settles it no matter what the world looks like. So, please see to it that your feet are well-dressed this Christmastime as you proclaim the good news,

“Our God Reigns!,” everywhere you go.

Gleaning from what was experienced at that luncheon, I’m asking you to anoint your feet with oil to remind yourself that you are committed to be a messenger of good news. One foot with “Peace on Earth”, the other with the proclamation,“Our God Reigns!” You’ll have the best-dressed feet ever…

…for such a (much-needed “Merry Christmas!”) time as this,

Esther
