Banner Elk Presbyterian  “dressed” for Christmas!

Bill and I have had the pleasure of celebrating Christmas Eve at Banner Elk Presbyterian Church in Banner Elk, NC for the last two Christmas Eves. It is a feast – both for the eyes and the spirit. Pastor Russell, the staff, families and children are all so welcoming and the church is absolutely resplendent in evergreens and bows.

This year, however, something else touched our hearts. In addition to the program for the evening, beautifully dressed, smiling children handed out rolled, parchment scrolls tied with ribbon. Inside were the prayers they were asking Jesus to hear for others at Christmas. Yes, we were captivated!

To honor Pastor Russell for seeking out the hearts of his children and making them such an important part of the celebration, we wanted to give more opportunity for their prayers to be effective for families around the world. So, 14 of the daily prayers on our February World Shapers Club monthly prayer calendar come directly from those little scrolls. Children on three continents will be praying in agreement!

Thank you, children of Banner Elk Presbyterian Church for sharing your prayers with us…for such an important time as this! (Esther 4:14)
