Every Nation has Bread
Years ago my father worked for the State Department and travelled extensively all over the world. Sometimes he would only be told the length of time he needed to pack for and not a clue about which direction he was headed. He quickly learned that not everywhere in the world had a local restaurant to frequent.
To adjust to the uncertainties of the job, he invested in Peanut Butter. Aaah, peanut butter, that sustaining protein we all came to love as a child!
Upon hearing of his adventures I asked him, “Did you just eat it straight from the jar?” He smiled and replied, ”Foods vary throughout the world but…every nation has some form of bread”.
My spirit leaped at his seemingly simple statement as the Holy Spirit confirmed this to be the same in God’s Kingdom on earth.
Jesus said in John 6, ”I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst”.
That Bread was blessed by our Heavenly Father on the Mount of Transfiguration then broken on Mount Moriah and for over 2,000 years has been delivered to the nations by His followers.
Every day we have an opportunity to be sustained by the Bread of Life but, bread alone will grow stale without the protein of faith. When Jesus said He is the Bread of Life He also stated that it only takes away the hunger of those who believe or have faith in this Bread.
Once our faith joins with the Bread of Life we realize, ” I’m not the only one being sustained but now, I’m able to feed the nations.”
So, let’s bring this to the subject of prayer. Part of what we call the “Lord’s Prayer” in Matthew chapter 5 says, “Give us this day our daily Bread”. Let’s focus on this as a daily request and declaration of the need for laborers to obtain and deliver this Daily Bread. As we labor ourselves, we find we’ve moved beyond the milk of the Word and found, as Jesus said in Matthew chapter 4, “I have food that you don’t know about for my food is to do the will of my Father.”
Then, we can rest at the Father’s table with a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and a cold glass of milk – all complete with child like faith.

Be Blessed,

Pastor Larry
