Borrowing from the system at work in today’s world, this is how I see our communication with God getting opened:

ID: INTERCESSOR. Password: THANKYOU!

The ID is no doubt a given with you or you probably would not be reading this letter.

I realize there’s an obvious exception to my addressing the ‘THANKYOU!” because intercession and spiritual warfare often call for such immediate attention that intercessors automatically – and rightly so – get to the task at hand with reflexive response.

However, about that password…

…consider this. The mounting chaos swirling around the globe can leave the intercessor’s head perpetually swimming in the mire of a glut of distressing and alarming information. Yes, we are dedicated to stay informed about world events in order for our petitions to be effectual as well as fervent. But, no, we are not to be so overwhelmed by it all that we cave to the pressure and abandon our calling. (I’ve known that to happen to others more than it should have throughout my years in this arena.)

Hence, I stress the value of that wonder-working, magnetic password. Using it guarantees captivating God’s attention (He absolutely loves to hear it!) and the perk I get out of it is a healthy dose of mental and emotional nurturing just knowing  I’ve gotten through to Him!

Interestingly, in the natural, we are taught to say, “THANK YOU!” from the time we begin to talk , at least as a courtesy and, at most as a heartfelt expression of deep gratitude. I choose the latter to get my point across to all of us… although I assume you’ve already gotten it.

All that said, I would hope that the familiar verse, Phil 4:6, “With thanksgiving make your requests…” (as well as a plethora of others) would continually ring in our ears… just as a reminder.

So, Intercessor, stay in this race. Use the right password. It will put things in perspective and get you promptly to the Throne Room of God where He awaits you.
