Proverbs 15:29 tells us, “…He (the Lord) hears the prayer of the righteous”.

“Prayer releases blessings.” This was the answer from one of the children in the Little Friends Pre-school when I asked him if he knew what a blessing was. According to this little one, the Lord hears and blesses the prayer of the righteous. I have been talking to the preschool and kindergarten students and encouraging them to pay attention to the blessings God send to us when we turn our prayers to Him.

Later, I was explaining the “prayer of the righteous” to my grandson, Guilyan, and I used the word “faithful” instead and gave him the following illustration of what happened to him that week as a result of his prayers.

Guilyan was having a sleep-over at my house and he said that he wanted to play with his cousin and best friend, Rylin. Every attempt to arrange that was complicated. However, he prayed that night that he would be able to see her soon.

The next day was a beautiful day and that morning Rylin’s dad called and said they were going to the beach. He asked if we wanted to meet them so Guilyan and Rylin could play. I said we would only have 2 hours for them to play.

On the way back, I reminded him that he had prayed for time with his friend and that God had blessed him with 2 unexpected hours of a play date. It may seem “silly” or “simple” to others but, for him, it was enlightening to see how God hears and answers the (faith-full) prayer of the righteous.
