A special prayer partner of mine in the High Country is Stuart Burns. Stuart leads the Wednesday prayer-set at Appalachian House of Prayer in Boone, N.C. Each week Stuart challenges us with a strong, provocative, scriptural word for prayerful meditation. Last week it was “momentum.”

Websters: “MOMENTUM: the strength or force that something has when it is moving: the strength or force that allows something to continue or to grow stronger or faster as time passes.

Stuart: “MOMENTUM can win the war.  MOMENTUM in a football match changes, and when it is in your favor, somehow you dig deep and the match is yours.  In an airplane, the fuel keeps the MOMENTUM of the aircraft aloft and moving forward consistently at 500 mph.

The word resonated with me in several ways but this one really stood out. I heard, “WE CAN’T STOP THE MOMENTUM!”

We can’t stop the momentum of praying.

We can’t stop the momentum of giving.

We can’t stop the momentum of believing.

If we DON’T stop, we will DIG DEEP, we will STAY ALOFT, we will MOVE FORWARD and, WE WILL WIN!
