I really tried hard to avoid doing this to you but, one does not argue with the Holy Spirit. So, stay with me on this matter of “New Year’s Resolutions.”

I’ve been known for my PRAYMORE” crusade, and now I’m on a BEMORE” one.

In researching the adjective “RESOLUTE” in Roget’s Thesaurus, it didn’t take long for me to be convinced that it’s absolutely a “NOW WORD”…New Year, or not.

We all know that our Christianity is being attacked more than ever so, in terms of the necessity in this coming year for us to “BEMORE,” I take you to some choice “RESOLUTE” synonyms.

I start with my favorites. Just imagine your Christian self to “BEMORE”…

Dogged, Indefatigable, Intrepid, Unflappable, Dead set on, Bull-headed, Hard-nosed, Like a dog with a bone (!)

Also consider the more scholarly synonyms…”BEMORE”

 Determined, Purposeful, Intentional. (No options)

Adamant, Single-minded, (daily living out our Christian biblical ethic.) Speak up! Steadfast, Unswerving (in our daily encounters when our beliefs are challenged.)

Staunch, Stalwart, (digging our heels in, so to speak, keeping our spiritual equilibrium intact.)

There are so many more but, the words I’ve chosen reflect my prayer and desire for all who read this letter.

Oh, just one more thing…I close my letter to you with a few choice “RESOLUTE” antonyms…

”cowardly, feeble, weak, spineless, vapid, gutless, wimpish, mamby-pamby, wishy-washy”

…just because I know none of you are!.

Have a Holy Spirit-Empowered New Year…

for such a (truculent!) time as this,

Esther
