Luke 10:2 (NIV – BibleGateway) “ the harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.

Just a few short weeks ago, I was privileged to be your/our representative to The International Prayer and Missions Leaders Consultation in Herrnhut, Germany. While there, several of those reporting on the current situations in nations and the move of God globally spoke about “unreached people groups.”

Back in the early/mid 1990’s ENI was part of the AD2000 & Beyond Movement which focused prayer on the nations of the 10/40 window – a geographical area of the world encompassing the birthplaces of all the world’s major religions and home to most of the unsaved people on the planet.

At that time, over 16,000 “unreached” people/ethnic group were recognized. Today, according to the Joshua Project, more than 10,000 of those groups have been “reached.”  What does “unreached mean?”

A basic understanding of what it means for a people or ethnic group to be considered “unreached” is this:

They have no missionary to share the Gospel with them.

There is no scripture available to them.

There are no known believers in their people group.

There is no church.

What needs to be done for them to be “reached”:

Pray for them to be open to the Gospel.

Ask God to give them dreams and visions.

Pray for workers to say “Yes!” to God and go to these people.

Pray for scripture to be translated, printed, made available.

Pray for new believers.

Pray for those new believers to establish churches.

While in Germany, each of us was given two sheets of paper…two “unreached people groups”…to pray over.  We formed into groups and petitioned God on behalf of these people – most of whom follow “other gods” if any at all.

Now, I would like to invite/encourage you to join with us in adopting in prayer the two people/ethnic groups God assigned to me that day in Herrnhut. Remember, I was there for US so, these people are OUR assignment! That means our World Shapers, too!
