“I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit[a] of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. 18 I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, 19 and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength.”                Ephesians 1 17-19

When summer vacation is over and it is time to go back to work at school, I always “camp” in the above verses. And, what comes most boldly to my eyes is, “may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him… that you may know what the hope of His calling is.”

For a long time, I kept stressing and asking myself, “What is my calling?” For many years I wore so many hats. I changed them as the years went by; always thinking that each one might be the one to “last for the rest of my life.”

THAT is my calling!” I thought. However, one would end and I moved on to another “calling”- prayer groups, women meetings, family ministry, children’s ministry, etc, etc, etc.

I do not stress anymore. I now understand that, while I am serving – no matter where or what I am doing – I am fulfilling His “calling” for me.

My calling is to serve Him. To love Him. To have a relationship with Him. This I can do whether I am working with children in school, using social media to spread the gospel or helping rescued horses in the barn.

I now understand that I will always have an opportunity to serve Him and to show to others the Christ that is in me.

So, if you have not figured out YOUR “calling”, I can guarantee that it is not to stress. God would never “call” you to that!
